15424266506_bd2155a7b7_zYou’ve always wanted to go to Hawaii and now your dream is about to come true. You are completely overwhelmed though, at the number of outdoor activity options that you have. Choosing from them is going to be difficult, but you just know you are going to have loads of fun and excitement during your stay. Some activities that you will be able to engage in include:

Scuba Diving

The beautiful clear waters of the islands make this sport a winner. Locate a guide with a boat and equipment who will take you out into the ocean and assist you with the wondrous water excursion. The seven main islands of this state offer many unique diving opportunities but Oahu is probably the best and safest for the beginning diver. Try your first excursion with a master guide to see how much you enjoy this underwater experience. If you are on an extended stay, you can work with an instructor from the Hawaii School of Diving and become a certified diver in only three days.

Surfing

Riding the waves can be the thrill of a lifetime. Take your board to designated areas on the islands of Oahu (especially on 13946254884_0de7c32268_zWaikiki Beach,) Kauai, Hawaii (the Big Island), and Maui. If you are a beginner, sign up for lessons and rent a board on a beach with less aggressive waves and learn the etiquette, rules and positioning for this exciting and competitive sport. New surfing locations have been added around the islands for the more experienced and adventurous surfer, but some of the classic locations such as the North Shore of Oahu have the biggest waves and the most history. Watch for one of the many competitions at these beaches. If you cannot ride the waves yourself, it is also a great spectator sports as the professionals show the captivated audiences how it is done.

Hiking

This is probably not an activity one thinks of when visiting this state, but the the opportunities to explore these beautiful and exotic islands are almost unlimited. The best islands to find hiking trails and excursions include Kauai, Oahu, Maui, and Hawaii (the Big Island). Consider walking the trails of the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and viewing the two active volcanoes of Kilauea and Mauna Loa or the winding paths of the Kalopa Nature Trail. Hike to the top of Diamond Head in Oahu. These are just a few of the great and natural areas where visitors can really explore nature while getting in some exercise and quality family time.
